Hug the tree is a movement or posture widely known in some health and relaxation therapies or even social cultures.
Therapists use this method to release stress and relaxation on their patients with mental illnesses, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), concentration levels, reaction times, depression and headaches.

In China this pose is know as “Zhan Zhuang Gong” which means “rooting standing posture” and it consists on standing like if we are over a big ball or sphere meanwhile we pretend to “hug” another big ball between our arms. You can keep this posture between 1 to 20 minutes as much as you can, as we said before.

To finish, get closer your left foot to the right one. put your arms down taking one hand over the other until the point “Dan Tien” (belly button). We must keep this posture until we feel the energy has been discharged and our hands are relaxed. At last, return to the initial posture with the hands along the legs.
You may experience tremors, but don’t worry, this is a symptom of muscular attuning and it may be the energy moving across your nervous system. This just happens at the beginning because your body is not prepared or trained, and this will be disappearing with the time and practice.
Stand in this posture produce a mechanical and static re-education of your backbone and pelvis. It is very good if you have suffered an accident in your back, scoliosis, etc. People who suffer backaches or lumbar pains will notice improvements in health easily.
